This piece is a depiction of African American beginnings in America. The customs, culture, leadership, innovation, and community we have curated in America. We are the "genesis" of America, the foundation upon which it stands, and the people who have significantly built it both physically and culturally. Black women are the nurturers, mothers, and guides in our community, which is why I found it important to create a design in tribute to Black women specifically.
